Chapter 4 · Lesson 3 of 4
How to Use Constraints in AI Prompts
Set Constraints
Constraints are rules the answer must follow: a word limit, a reading level, topics to avoid, words to include, or a required structure.
"Explain photosynthesis in under 60 words, for a 10-year-old, without using the word 'chlorophyll'" has three clear constraints.
Good constraints are specific and checkable. "Keep it short" is vague; "under 60 words" is easy to verify.
